It’s a common sight these days to see plumes of smoke rising around Karamoja as our neighbors burn the bush to make way for new growth, to increase their visibility—to prevent raiding—and to reduce the tick population. In the last week, we’ve had a number of fires come up and burn along our fences. Thankfully, the mid-season plowing that we did means that the likelihood of the fires crossing our fields and threatening our homes is very small.
