We baptized another covenant child in Nakaale today. There had been some speculation regarding what the name of the child would be. His Karimojong name was after a friend of the family, but as is often the case, the Christian name was a bit longer in coming. Today, he was baptized as Lote Nathan. I don’t know how much meaning was intended to be read into the choice, but it was a beautiful choice because this is the son of Lokwii David.
Lokwii should be familiar to many of you, having been a friend and employee of the mission for many years. He has worked as our translator and pastoral assistant until late last year when he decided to take a second wife. This came as a very big blow to all of us on the mission, but we rejoiced when he recently repented and confessed his sin before the church. Since then, the pastors have been meeting with and encouraging him, and last Sunday was his first back at work translating for the Sunday service in Nakaale.
We are thankful to God for his work in the life of Lokwii—for the reminder that sin can take hold of any of us, but that God’s grace is able to capture us above all else. Pray for Lokwii and his wife, Helen, as they seek to raise Nathan to know the love of Christ; pray that this child will be a reminder to Lokwii of the God that he serves.
