“You have returned in a time of blessing!” was one welcome I received. Harvest is only a few weeks away. Another proceeded to give me a list of trials that I had missed in their life while we were gone. Another told me proudly that I was fat and speculated how fat I would get if I stayed in the US for one year spreading their arms wide and puffing up their cheeks.
We’re back in Nakaale and settling into life. This does inevitably include getting caught up on the tragedies that we missed, including hunger season, police raids looking for guns, numerous deaths, and pervading sickness. It also includes giving praise for the miraculous healing of a worker who had a severe brain injury, the proliferation of ministry activities, boarding school students returning home for a short break and thankfulness that schools remain open! Even as I write local church members have hiked into the foothills of Mt Kadam to give a conference to believers there. The teachers will be young men who have been discipled by the mission for years. It is very exciting to see them grow in a vision of the church and take initiative.
We’ve started school again, with mixed results. Christopher is collecting all the loose ends from our absence and gearing up for the clinic housing to continue. He’s planting a garden hoping the rains will last and planning for visitors in the fall.
A perpetually encouraging adage I often say is that the Lord was here working before we came, it is only through Him that we work, and He will continue working when we’re gone. I’m humbled and thankful to be a part of His Church body here in Karamoja.
So good to hear your love for ministry and your perspective on it. Thanks for the encouragement you model for us.
So thankful you made it safely back, and we miss you all so much!!!
We loved having you here, conversations, meals, kids playing with kids, hugs! You are a blessing to everyone here as you are a blessing to everyone there! Until next time!! 🙂
